We all know it’s that time of year. The pumpkins are out in full swing and midterms are drowning all students throughout the whole month. Between going to as many Halloween events as possible while finishing three papers and two exams, Halloween costume ideas are pushed to the side. Before you know it, it’s Halloweekend and you don’t have a costume. But, do not stress about waiting until the last minute. Here are some easy last-minute costume ideas fit for college students’ non-existent budget and non-existent time management skills:
1. Lecture’s participation points
Let’s be honest: 95 percent of the reason you go to your lecture in Clark A, the Behavioral Science Building or Johnson Hall is solely for the clicker participation points. We all have that one lecture where you only talk to people so you can eventually give them your clicker for points. What better to be for Halloween than everyone’s favorite most trusted person in class? Just print out a couple of images of a clicker and safety pin them to your shirt. Now you can walk around telling everyone you’re their participation grade.
2. “Error 404 Costume not found” sign.
This costume is especially great when you don’t have a clue about what you’re going to be. It makes to be a great joke for those who don’t have the creative costume touch. Making the costume will take almost a short of time as it did to think of it. All you need is a piece of paper, a sharpie and a safety pin. Feel free to get as creative as you want with decorating the unfortunate technology costume message. The best part is that you can wear whatever you want with this sign.
3. Snapchat ghost for a millennial twist
Being a ghost using a bedsheet has become too overdone to be creative and original. Take this spooky Halloween costume classic and add a modern millennial touch. You can get a yellow shirt of any style, shade and fit and just add the Snapchat ghost logo in the center. It’s a modern and spooky way to celebrate the season. If you want, put your Snapchat username or Snapcode on your shirt as well. Get a few more snap streaks going and you’re a true millennial.
4. Vlogger
Today, everyone feels the need to put what they’re eating, where they are, what Netflix show they’re binging or how much homework they have to do on social media. Now is your time to be someone who has millions of subscribers caring about these things. All you have to do is learn some YouTuber vlogger lingo like, “don’t forget to like and subscribe” or “comment what you want to see next week,” and walk around with your phone’s camera extended from your face. If you want to go all out, dress like a trendy YouTube vlogger (if you don’t know what that looks like, watch David Dobrik’s vlogs).
5. Cat (or any animal) ears
Halloween would be incomplete without the 500-people walking around in all different types of animal ears. Colorado State University product design major Brooklyn Dykstra says, “All you need is two pieces of felt cut into triangles glued to a headband and draw on some whiskers with eyeliner and wear all black.” This costume is very simple and easy to dress for a night out or just to show your inner Halloween spirit.
